The Arena, together with Juliet's house, is the monument that has made Verona famous in Italy and all over the world. It is the third largest Roman amphitheatre after the Colosseum and the Capua Arena. It can hold about 20,000 people, which is thought to be the entire population of Verona of the first century AD, the period the monument's construction is connected to. It was built just outside the city walls, which are still partly visible behind the amphitheatre, in a large open space which, with the construction of the new walls in the twelfth century, would become Piazza Bra.  From our campsite near the Verona Arena, in just 45 minutes you can enjoy some of the best shows organised each summer.
